Privacy Policy
Hi. This is how Waylo handles your data. Short version: we keep as much as we can on your iPhone, we don’t sell your info, and you can leave anytime. Questions? hello@waylo.run.
Who this is for
Waylo is for people 13 and up (or whatever the minimum age is where you live). It’s not made for kids. If a child somehow ended up with an account, email us and we’ll clear it.
Steps & HealthKit
If you say yes, Waylo reads your steps (and related activity) from Apple Health so Today can show how you’re doing. We don’t use that for ads, and we don’t sell it. You can turn Health access off anytime in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Health.
Location during walks
When you start a Walk or Run, we use your location only while that session is going, so we can draw the route and distance. We don’t sell location or use it for ads. You can skip location; steps still work. Background location is only so an active walk can keep going if the screen locks.
Photos & camera
If you pick a profile photo, we ask for photo library or camera access. That picture stays on your device unless you sign in and we later offer cloud profile sync.
What’s on your phone
Waylo is built to work offline. Your step snapshot, walks, share drafts, and settings live on your device. Uninstalling the app removes that local data.
Accounts & backup
Signing in is optional. With Sign in with Apple, we get an identity token and open an account with our auth provider (Supabase). When you’re online, we may back up finished activities and settings. We don’t stream live GPS to the cloud mid-walk. Guest mode? No cloud account. Everything stays on the phone.
Deleting your stuff
Signed-in: You → Account → delete. That removes your cloud profile, synced walks, and the auth user, and clears Waylo data on this device. Guests: clear local data in the app, or just uninstall.
Who helps us run Waylo
A few services help keep the lights on. They only get what they need to do their job:
- Apple: Sign in with Apple, App Store, HealthKit, maps on device
- Supabase: sign-in and optional walk backup
- Expo / EAS: builds and updates
- Sentry (if enabled): crash reports so we can fix bugs; not your Health data
We don’t sell your data
No selling personal info, health data, or location history. No data brokers. Ads that track you aren’t part of Waylo V1.
How long we keep things
On-device data stays until you clear it or uninstall. Cloud data for signed-in accounts lasts while the account exists, then goes away when you delete, with a short backup window on our side.
